How I work

What Can I Offer?

I offer face to face counselling on a one to one basis.

I work with clients on a short term basis to work through specific issues, or longer term work with those who would like more ongoing support.

I primarily offer counselling to adults, but have significant experience working with children and young people from the age of 13.

Where do I work?

Counselling sessions are offered from The Belmore Centre in Stoke Mandeville near Aylesbury.

Counselling Approaches

As an integrative counsellor, I am able to work with you using a variety of tools and techniques to best suit your needs. These options will be discussed during our work together but you will always have the choice as to how you would prefer us to work together.

The approaches are briefly explained below:

Person-Centred Counselling focuses on our self worth and the values and beliefs we have about ourselves. Feeling understood, heard and valued as a person, without the fear of being judged, can in itself help us to accept who we are, and reconnect with what is important for us.

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) focuses on thoughts rather than feelings, suggesting that our behaviour is a direct response to our thoughts and personal beliefs about any given situation.

CBT works by identifying and challenging negative or irrational beliefs, with counselling focusing on helping people to find more helpful ways of thinking and behaving in the situations that cause them distress or discomfort.

Transactional Analysis (TA) looks at our relationships with others, suggesting that how we interact and communicate with others can provide insight into our own thoughts, feelings and behaviours.
