About Counselling

What is Counselling?

Counselling is a talking therapy that encourages you to talk about the issues and concerns that are having an impact on your life in a friendly, safe and confidential environment.

The aim of counselling is to work at your own pace to explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours, whether linked to one specific issue or a series of more ongoing difficulties being experienced.

Some of the problems that Counselling can help with include:

Whatever problem it is that you present, counselling will provide a non judgemental environment to support you to understand yourself and your problems better. This can then lead to strategies that can help you make positive changes in your life.

All of our work together will be confidential, with anything that you share through the counselling process staying between us.

There are some exceptions whereby confidentiality may need to be broken. This would happen if it was felt that you are at serious risk to yourself or someone else.

If confidentiality does need to be broken, where possible I will discuss this directly with you first and we will take any necessary steps together.
